ADEL Certification

All Referees selected for the Elite World Championship are required to have an ADEL Certificate. The CMAS letter to Federations only states that players and coaches are required to have it.  If you have an alternative ITA certificate, or your country uses an equivalent system, those certificates are acceptable as well.


Instructions for getting an ADEL certificate:
     • Go to WADA website
     • Create an account if you don’t have one.
     • Login.
     • Find the “International Athletes Education Program” in your language. Your Federation may require you to take the National program. If so, you can take that one instead. You do not need both.
     • A certificate of participation will be emailed to you.

Upload your certificate to the CMAS Portal: 
     • Log in to your CMAS portal account.
     • Upload your certificate.

Selection Process
The Referee Committee selects the referees for the championship games following a process defined in the Referee Management Plan that allows for fair distribution of referees.


Selection Criteria
   •  Referees must be Active Level 3 referees prior to the tournament. Concessions can be made by the Referee Committee for Inactive Level 3 referees, and Candidate Level 3 referees.
   •  At least one referee from each country which sends at least one team the tournament.
   •  A maximum of 5 referees from the same country.
   •  We strive to have at least 30% of referees be female and least 30% male.
   •  We strive to have at least 20% of referees be first-timers.
